What state is Leonida based on?
Florida. Rockstar has not said so outright, but the geography, architecture, industries and the name itself all point there unambiguously — Leon County is real, and Vice City has stood in for Miami since 1986.
Where is Vice City in Leonida?
Vice City is the urban centre of the state, on the coast. Rockstar has published no map, so its exact position relative to the other five regions is not known.
Was Leonida mentioned before GTA 6?
Yes. Leonida appeared as a place name in earlier Grand Theft Auto games before VI was announced, which is part of why the setting was widely predicted.
Does Leonida have mountains?
Mount Kalaga is named as forested high ground. Real Florida is famously flat, so this is one place where the map departs from its source rather than copying it.
When does GTA 6 come out?
19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar moved the date twice — first from an unspecified 2025 window to 26 May 2026, then to 19 November 2026.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a date for one. Every recent mainline Grand Theft Auto has reached PC eventually, but nothing about VI has been confirmed.
Where is GTA 6 set?
The fictional state of Leonida, which stands in for Florida. Rockstar has named six areas: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.
